Sociomateriality of accountably

Sociomateriality is a theoretical perspective. It basically means seeing the world as being constructed through social and material (e.g. technological) agency. Applied to accountability this means that accountability is both social (e.g. people - travellers - hold the hoteliers 'to account' for their services) and also dependent on material/technological infrastructure (e.g. the algorithm that takes input from people and combines with the website to display a popularity ranked order of hotels). Accountability therefore is sociomaterial - it relies on (and in turn to some extent shapes) people and technology.
